Italy is an amazing place. Each region has its own unique sights, foods, wines and more. There is so much to see and do; it would take more than a lifetime to experience it all. But you only have a week.....or ten days......or two weeks. It's overwhelming, isn't it? Let me help you. I lived in Rome for two years, and spent the weekends traveling about, concentrating on Umbria, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast. I have favorite places I love to go back to. Let me take you away.
Traveling is one of my very favorite things to do. Next up, would probably be the trio of cooking, eating and drinking wine. That's a pretty great combination of favorites when you love Italy as much as I do. The countrysides of all the regions of Italy are filled with wineries, eateries, olive oil mills, cheese producers, and every other sort of place to fill your culinary desires. I can book cooking classes in beautiful wineries in the countryside. I can take you to family owned wineries for wine tours, tastings and lunches. And I plan our meals in the most delicious and picturesque restaurants. Let me take you away.
And who doesn't go to Italy for the art, architecture and history? Everywhere you turn, there is a beautiful sight to behold; buildings that make you stare in awe, art that moves you to tears, stories that make you wonder. I use only officially licensed guides to take us on walking tours where they can dispense their vast knowledge in an interesting manner.
I am in Italy at least twice a year with clients; leading small groups on fun adventures. But every year, I spend at least a month in Italy without clients, exploring new places, eating at new restaurants, visiting new places to stay, and meeting new Italian colleagues (drivers, guides, etc.) to add to my ever-expanding network of great local contacts. In this way, I know that whether my clients are in Italy on an unescorted or an escorted tour, they will be well taken care of by my colleagues in Italy.
No trip to Italy would be complete without a few days in Rome, especially if it's your first visit. Having lived in the historic city center for more than two years, I can help you navigate your way around with ease. I can help you narrow down the very long list of sights to see, to a manageable list of the best ones for you and your group. If you have been to Rome before, and think you've seen everything on the "A" list, I can help you discover the "B" list; the secondary, but fabulous treasures that first time visitors don't have time for. In addition, I can take you to wonderful food markets, great shopping, and fabulous restaurants. Let me take you away.
This is not the usual tour. There will be no big buses with 20 or 40 people wearing matching scarves and following the leader waving the umbrella. You and your small group (usually around 6 people) come to me already knowing each other. Maybe you are family members, or a small group of life-long friends. You let me know what your "must-see" sights are, tell me your interests, and let me know how long you'd like to stay. I fill in the blanks, and build the perfect itinerary just for you and your group, not for twenty other people who don't want to do what you want to do. Each set of clients is a new journey; I've never taken the exact same itinerary twice! Let me take you away on a grand adventure.
